METROLOGIST / CALIBRATION TECHNICIANThe Metrologist / Calibration Technician we are looking for will provide immediate support for all aspects of our electronic (electrical) calibration, troubleshooting and repair services in accordance with established procedures standards. The ideal applicant will be self-motivated, possess a strong commitment to customer service and excel in a team-orientated environment.
Calibrations will be performed both on-site (Hudson, NH) in our environmentally controlled lab and off-site at our customer facilities (some overnight travel is required).
Responsibilities
- Perform calibration, testing, troubleshooting and repairs, as necessary, data collection and report completion on a wide range of electronic (electrical) and electro-mechanical measuring and test equipment (M&TE).
- Use established internal procedures as well as industry standards, manufacturer procedures, etc. for the proper calibration and troubleshooting of electronic M&TE.
- Maintain and follow ISO related procedures (9000 and 17025) customer specific procedures and other required documentation.
- Complete required documentation to certify the verification and calibration of electronic M&TE.
- Use a variety of diagnostic tools and standard equipment to isolate malfunctions of electronic M&TE.
- Provide recommendations for improving calibration processes.
- Design and develop new calibration methods and test aids, when required.
- Accurately determine and request support services, internally and through supplier chains, as necessary.
- Self-manage time to obtain maximum efficiency.
- Possess excellent customer service skills in both written and oral forms.
- Always focus on providing the best service possible to our customers and fellow employees.
- Excel in a team-orientated environment.
- Be self-motivated.
- Follow company policies and standard operating procedures (SOP).
Electronic (Electrical) Metrology Knowledge and Skills.
- Must have in-depth, detailed knowledge of the metrology, mathematics, and applicable technical disciplines required to perform the described duties.
- A sample of electronic (electrical) proficiency requirements: Amp Meters, Balances, Clamp Meters, Data Loggers, Force Gages, Hypot Testers, Load Cells, Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies, Pressure/Vacuum, Temperature/Humidity, Time interval and Frequency Counters
- Additional calibration experience (i.e. mechanical, etc.) is a plus.
Desirable Education and Experience
- BS degree in Electronics, Engineering, Math, Science, or similar, is strongly desired.
- Formal training in Metrology, previous Precision Measurement Equipment Course (PMEL)
- 5 years of electronic (electrical) metrology experience is strongly desired.
- Training or Certification Courses in calibration and repairs, or similar, is strongly desired.
- Basic computer skills including the use of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word and database applications (data entry, not programming).
- Detailed knowledge of Fluke 5520 is strongly desired.
- Valid driver's license with positive driving record.

- A sample of mechanical proficiency recommendations: Balances, Blocks (1-2-3, angle, sine, etc.), Calipers, Crimpers, Durometers, Force Gages, Gage Blocks, Hardness Testers, Height Gages, Indicators, Inspection Gages, Mass, Micrometers, Pin Gages, Plain Plugs and Rings, Pressure/Vacuum, Scales, Thread Plugs and Rings, Torque, Weights
- Additional CMM experience would be a plus.
- Minimum Associates Degree, preferably with a technical discipline, or
- Formal training in Metrology, previous Precision Measurement Equipment Course (PMEL)
- 3-5 years of mechanical metrology experience is strongly desired.
- Training or Certification Courses in calibration and repairs, or similar, is strongly desired.
- Basic computer skills including the use of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word and database applications (data entry, not programming).
- Experience with Pratt & Whitney's LabMaster Universal is a plus.
- Valid driver's license with positive driving record.
